Trigger point dry needling is a technique in which fine needles are inserted into painful knots in muscle to help decrease pain and improve mobility and function. These painful, hyper-irritable spots (myofascial trigger points) develop in muscle fibres as a result of strain and spasm.
Sterile, single-use, very thin needles are used. It is called "dry" because no medication is injected. We use it in conjunction with manual therapy and rehabilitative exercise, not as a treatment on its own.
