Manual lymphatic drainage is a light, skin-stretching massage that helps move lymphatic fluid out of a swollen limb.
It is used after cancer surgery or radiotherapy, which can lead to regional or generalised accumulation of lymph fluid, called lymphoedema. Early physiotherapy is proven to be an effective intervention in preventing lymphoedema, which is why timing matters more here than in almost any other area we work in.
